Download PdfThe Central Nave of La Seu Vella hosted this week the institutional ceremony for the presentation of medals and plaques awarded by the Lleida City Council to individuals and organisations that have stood out for their career, commitment and contribution to the city’s social and cultural development.
In total, 34 distinctions were awarded across various fields, including scientific and research merit. In this category, Professor Pere Godoy, from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Lleida, specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health, was honoured.
This recognition highlights a career spanning more than 40 years dedicated to applied epidemiology and the improvement of public health, from clinical, academic and research perspectives, with a strong connection to healthcare institutions in the Lleida region and the University of Lleida.
In the words of the awardee, his career has been closely linked to the practice and application of epidemiology:
“As a specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health, I have been able to practice applied epidemiology within the health department and healthcare institutions in the Lleida region, including the University of Lleida. Epidemiology is a science that allows us to study health problems in real-life settings and generate knowledge that can be used to improve population health.
For me, it has been a privilege and an honour to work for more than 40 years within this virtuous circle of research, knowledge generation and application of results to contribute to improving public health.
I am very grateful to the Lleida City Council for this recognition.”
This award has also recognised other members of the university community, reinforcing the role of the UdL in the scientific and social development of the region.
