José Manuel Porcel, full professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lleida (UdL), head of the Internal Medicine Department at the Hospital Universitari Arnau de Vilanova (HUAV), and researcher at IRBLleida, has been selected by the Chinese government to participate in the SAFEA program (State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs), aimed at attracting leading international professionals in biomedical research and innovation.

Porcel will participate in the S category (Senior Talent), the highest level of the program, collaborating with the China-Japan Friendship Hospital in Beijing, one of the country’s most important medical and research centers. His work will include scientific advising, development of research projects, professional training, and promotion of international collaborations in the field of pleural diseases and respiratory medicine.

This recognition strengthens the international projection of the Faculty of Medicine, HUAV, and IRBLleida, highlighting the connection between biomedical research, clinical care, and university education.
