The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lleida congratulates Professor Oriol Yuguero Torres on his appointment as the new managing director of the Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital in Lleida. He is also expected to take over the management of Santa Maria University Hospital and the other centres managed by Gestió de Serveis Sanitaris in the region.

Linked for many years to the Faculty of Medicine as a lecturer and to IRBLleida as a researcher in the ERLab group, Yuguero begins this new stage after having led the territorial clinical management of the Emergency Services of Lleida and Alt Pirineu i Aran.

On the occasion of his appointment, he highlights his commitment to continuing to strengthen collaboration between healthcare centres and the University:

“Taking on the leadership of a Healthcare Park that is currently under development is a challenge. We must continue working to strengthen the relationship with the University of Lleida and its centres, and to highlight the role of students in the day-to-day work of our healthcare activity. We must also work to ensure that more and more clinical professionals are involved in teaching.”

This appointment strengthens the ties between the Faculty of Medicine and the region’s leading university hospitals, where hundreds of students carry out a fundamental part of their clinical training every year.
